150 years of fight against counterfeiting

Musée de la contrefaçon

Anticipation, flexibility and efficiency. Turning our gaze to UNIFAB’ S past, these are the first words that come to mind.

The Museum is pleased to introduce you to its temporary exhibition which is as much a history book as it is a family album, and which lifts the veil on these 150 years. Revealing its archives and its oldest forgeries to the public for the first time, the exhibition is a journey through the decades, from the founding of the association in 1872 to the present day.

You will discover that UNIFAB contributed to founding intellectual property law and then to strengthening it. It’s first decades were those of the construction and codification of law. In the aftermath of the wars, it took charges of dissemination and harmonization of laws on a global level. Finally, at the dawn of the 4th industrial revolution, UNIFAB devoted all its energy to combating counterfeiting and raising public awareness.

Through archival documents, the exhibition highlights how UNIFAB, despite all the upheavals that have occurred over the past 150 years, has been able to win, and constantly regain, this place as a link between public and private players, between businesses and consumers and between the real world and the digital world.
